Our Sunday morning worship is open to all people. We are a church family that is trying to follow Jesus, and striving to grow closer to God, through the help of God’s Spirit. We recognize that when we gather each Sunday morning in person, or through zoom and Facebook live that we are all joined together as one family.
The Victory Hills family welcomes diversity. The Sunday morning messages are given by several pastors on a rotating basis, allowing us to hear God speaking to us through differing voices. We include different styles of music. People are invited to participate actively in
worship.
After our worship service we move to the fellowship hall and share a meal with each other. As followers of Jesus, we gather around the tables and listen to each other’s stories, sharing God’s
love and compassion with all people.
We invite people to become actively engaged in the work that God is doing through us. We want people to grow deeper in relationship with each other and with God. We are excited seeing how God is working among us, helping us grow in many ways. We strive to be the church that is alive each and every day, sharing the message of hope and love with each other extending out into the community.
Our grounds are open to the community. Please come and walk around the gardens. Bring a basketball to shoot some hoops. Sit down with a good book and enjoy the flowers. Take some time to let God’s spirit of love fill you with peace and hope.
Christian Education
Our Sunday School classes meet at 9:30 for both adults and children. The adult class is offered both in person and on zoom.
We are developing small groups for adults that will meet using zoom and in person. Contact the church office if you are interested in participating.
Our children learn about God in Sunday school as well as by participating in the Wednesday Victory Kids program. They are offered in person.
Activities
Victory Gardens
The Victory Gardens include flowers, vegetables, and fruit trees. A patio is surrounded by
flowers. People can enjoy drinking a cup of tea or reading a good book while watching the
butterflies and hummingbirds. In the fall the birds and squirrels enjoy the seeds that the flowers have created. Come see the beauty and peace of nature that God has created.
The vegetable gardens provide fresh produce for our Victory Hills family and also the
surrounding community. During the growing season, our lunches on Sunday often include
dishes made from the fresh produce. The vegetable gardens are a gathering place for
conversation. Everyone is welcome to help plant, water, weed, and take vegetables to feed your
family.
Our orchard that was planted in 2021 includes 12. We have had to pull off all the blossoms to let the roots of these baby trees grow deep the first two years. This reminds us of the importance of growing deeper with our relationship to God. Next summer we will be able to let the trees bloom and watch the fruit grow. We look forward to sharing pears, peaches, apples, cherries, and jujubes with the community.
Victory Seniors
From Monday through Friday our seniors gather for activities. Victory Hills is a site for the
congregate meal program offered by the Area Agency on Aging. Lunches are served each
weekday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. We deliver the meals to Washington Heights and Victory Hills
independent living centers. The congregate meals are served to persons who are 60 years and above. Please come by any weekday morning or contact the church office to register.
Exercise programs that are free of charge are held for our seniors Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. They are mostly done while sitting in a chair. The live classes offered through the Area Agency on Aging are Monday and Wednesday at 9:00. Tuesday and Friday we exercise at 10:00 using a video series in the building and on zoom. We want to encourage everyone to stay physically fit.
We have other activities throughout the week. Tuesday is bingo day. Wednesday a group of
people gather to learn how to knit and crochet. The second Wednesday of the month a dietician
comes to teach us about healthy eating.
Victory Kids
Wednesday afternoons a structured afterschool program is offered to help parents with the early
release time. The activities include homework, story time, games, crafts, puppets, music and
snacks. The hours of the program are from 1:45 – 4:45 p.m. A donation is suggested to help
cover the cost of running the program.
A basketball goal is in the lower parking lot. Children and youth from the community are invited to come anytime to get exercise using the basketball goal and open grass area of the church grounds.
Instrumental Music
Group classes are available for beginners through experienced players. The beginning and
advanced beginning groups for 4th – 8th graders meet on Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. The advanced group for high school students and adults meets on Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m.
Performances are held at various community locations throughout the year. Several instruments are available on loan for participants in the program.
Quilting
The church has two professional level quilting machines. Please contact Rusty Boyer at 913-

Soon we would like to begin sewing classes and help people make their own projects including
quilt tops. If you have a sewing machine that needs a new home, please consider donating it to our sewing program.
AA
An AA group meets on Sunday afternoons at 1:11 p.m. in the Chelsea Chapel at the church. This
group is an open group to all persons and family members who have struggled with various types of addictions.
Food Pantry
Victory Hills has a small food pantry. People can contact the church office to make an
appointment to get food assistance. We receive donations of bread and pastries from Price
Chopper. Every Friday people can come by the fellowship hall between 10:30 and 11:30 to pick
up some bread and pastries.
